Noelle: One

Adrianna and Noelle took one last picture together before she had her cake and would become a grown woman. She couldn't believe that soon she would be the mother of two adult daughters it seemed like yesterday they were toddlers and now they wouldn't need her anymore. She did her best to smile through the tears as Noelle happily bounced over to her cake.

Noelle took a minute to look around the room before making her wish there was only one thing she really wanted and that was the one person who was missing from the festivities. She closed her eyes and thought of nothing but her wish before blowing out the candles and feeling the first wave of sparkles hit.

As the sparkles disappeared around her she waited for a feeling of adulthood to creep up on her but she basically felt the same, maybe a little taller.

Then she spotted him, he’d actually shown up. She thought back to what Gemma had told her about becoming an adult making her feelings change but they hadn't she still had that fluttery feeling in her gut as she looked into his eyes and he smiled. “Happy birthday.” He said.
“Thanks, I didn't think you’d be here.”
“I wouldn't miss your birthday.” He winked and made his way to the cake.

After cake Noelle headed to the dance floor to show off her moves, a couple minutes into her dance she felt a tap on her shoulder. “Care for a partner?” Jude asked and she beamed at him. They spent a good hour dancing before he announced that he had an early studio session and would have to catch her later. Disappointed she continued to dance.

“Well how did it go? You over it?” Gemma asked joining her.
“No, if anything its worse!” Noelle groaned.
“Well… I guess go for it then.” Gemma shrugged. “What’s the worst that can happen?”
“Somehow that feels like a really bad omen Gem.”
“Love is a bad omen.”
“Oh really, did you tell that to your boyfriend? Isn't he seeing wedding bells and all that lovey dove stuff?”

“You had to remind me?” Gemma stopped dancing and frowned at her. “Jeremy lives in his own little world where everything is perfect one day he’ll realize that I don’t fit in there and he’ll either get a new goal or we’ll go our separate ways. It’s inevitable anyway he’s human.”
“You could turn him though…” Noelle pointed out.
“No I couldn't that’s not even a possibility.”
“Maybe you’ll be the one who changes goals.”
“Wishful thinking.”

That night was Noelle’s first night in her new room and she had to say it was just the way she’d wanted it. Now she’d have to work on the house, here it was spring and there wasn't a single decoration up and that just couldn't fly.

It was the day of her audition and Noelle was a ball of nerves she’d spent her morning cleaning up everything she could get her hands on, taking a long shower, and then burning herself some mac and cheese before she was able to rush out the door. She watched out the window of the cab as the town breezed by in a blur and ran over what she would say in her mind a million times.

“Noelle Leavitt I presume?” The woman said in a bored tone.
“Yes…” She smiled nervously.
“Kenyatta Sneed.” She said as if the name alone was a big revelation. “Now let’s hear you play.”

Noelle stepped back and pulled out her guitar with a deep breath, this was it the moment that would make or break her dreams. As she started to play she hoped that all her work had paid off.

“Well your still a little green but Jude was right you have talent. How would you like to be the next big thing?” She smiled at her.
“REALLY?” Noelle asked excitedly.
“Well it’s still a ways off you’ll have to work yourself up the ladder starting at the low end of the totem pole but I think you’ll get there one day as long as you stay focused.”
“When can I start?” She asked bouncing on her feet.
“Tomorrow afternoon be at the theater and they’ll tell you what to do.” And with that Kenyatta dismissed herself leaving Noelle to bask in her accomplishment.

Rushing into work the next day had not been on Noelle’s agenda but her sister using up all the hot water wasn’t an anticipated setback. Still she managed to make it to work right on time, they immediately instructed her to unloaded one of the trucks in the back for the upcoming show that night. The bottom of the totem pole apparently meant heavy lifting and little actual playing, but it was a start.

“Hey Noelle.” Jude called stopping her before she made her way home.
“Hey, thanks so much for helping me out.”
“It was my pleasure.” He smiled. “You wouldn't happen to want to grab a bite would you?”
“Now?” She asked feeling her heart speed up.
“Yeah why not?”
 OK…” She agreed shakily.

They headed over to the bistro and after a delicious meal and a lot of wine Noelle agreed to go back to his place. She wasn't sure what to expect really but she wasn't ready for the night to be over. “I had a nice time with you tonight.” Jude told her stopping in the living room.
“Me too, I think next time I should take it easy on the wine though.” She giggled.
“You did have a lot for your first time.” He laughed as his hand brushed her arm and she tried to ignore the tingles.
“Hey you know this time of night is the best to see the constellations.” She blurted out wanting to smack herself for being such a weirdo.
“Yea? You wanna take a look?” He asked seeming genuinely interested.

As they plopped down on the front porch she couldn't help but stare at him as he looked up at the sky. He really was too gorgeous, she was never gonna get over this crush and she wasn't sure she really wanted to.

Perhaps it was the wine that made her place her hand on his when she leaned back and maybe the wine made him scoot closer so his arm was around her but she wasn't about to complain. “That’s Orion.” She said pointing out the only real constellation she knew and the easiest to see.
“Wow I've never really noticed that before.”
“Seriously? It’s like the first thing you see when you look in the sky.” She teased.
“I guess I don’t look up much.” He shrugged. They stayed there looking at the stars for what felt like hours before Noelle reluctantly stood up. “I better get home…”

“It is pretty late.” He said then pulled her into a tight hug. “We should do this again.”
“Yeah… we should.” Noelle smiled hoping he couldn't tell how ecstatic she was to hear him say that.
“Night Noelle.”
“Goodnight.” She felt like she was practically floating home she couldn't believe the night had actually happened she’d gone on a sort of date with her crush and he wanted to do it again. First her music dreams were starting to fall into place and now her love life could it get any better than this?

Adrianna: Sixteen

“All this money in renovations and still I've got things breaking daily.” Adrianna groaned as she attempted to fix the dishwasher. “You better watch out buddy next paycheck I just might replace you.” Almost instantaneously she heard the sound of the dishwasher kicking back on. “That’s what I thought.” She stood up satisfied. She looked around the room and smiled, the house was really starting to get a lot roomier and soon Noelle would be moving upstairs and they could finally start thinking of knocking down the walls around her old room. When she was done with this place it was going to be a real fantastic home for her family.

“Hey kiddo why don’t we go for a drive?” Adrianna asked Noelle when she finally woke up. It wasn't too long until her birthday would be here and she really should have her license.
“Sure that’d be great!” Noelle smiled.

“Don’t tell your sister this but you are a much better driver.”
“She’s not that bad.”
“Once she learned what the gas petal was she pushed it to the floor!”
“At least she hasn't hit anyone…”
“Yet.” They laughed. “How is your music coming?”
“Great I’m going to blow them away at my audition.”
“I’m glad you’re doing something you want to do, I worry about your sisters choices.”

“She’s smart though I think she’ll make the right choice in the end.”
“I hope your right… I don’t know what I’d do if they hauled her into the station like they do Winter.”
“Is that why you don’t like Winter?”
“That’s part of it… there is a lot Gemma doesn't know about her father and his family.” She sighed and looked ahead she didn't want to talk to her girls about all the arrests Fall and Winter had received or their evil nature she wanted them to stay innocent and naive to it all. Gemma however was starting to worry her more and more about her nature, she just wasn't that sweet little girl anymore. “Let’s not talk about it anymore, I think you are ready for your test.”

That night Noelle went down to the karaoke bar to play some pool with an old friend from school who’d just had a birthday. “I can’t believe you went and got married the day after graduation.” She said to him as she lined up her shot.
“What can I say I’m in love.” He swooned.
“Yea but she’s like OLD… like enough to be your mother.”
“Can you not say that…” He said shuttering.
“ OK but it’s true I mean she’s my sisters aunt, which by the way is creepy.”
“She’s the nice one, she doesn't even speak to Fall and Winter not to mention she hasn't even met Gemma.”

“I didn't think anyone in that family was nice.”
“Spring is an angel.”
“Well then when do I get to meet her?”
“Right after the baby is born.”
“TAM! A baby?! Gee you work fast.”
“Trust me Ellie when you fall in love you’ll get it.”
“Maybe, but you won’t catch me with a baby until after I am a famous rock star.”
“We’ll see…”

The next day was her last jam session with Jude before her audition. She’d been nailing all of the chords lately and was feeling pretty good about the whole thing. It had even distracted her from her crush, though not completely. “Alright that was great you’re going to be awesome.” He beamed at her when they finished and she felt her legs turn to jello.
“Thanks Jude I couldn't have done it without you.” She smiled.
“Sure you could have Noelle you’re a brilliant guitarist.”

“Well that is because I had an awesome mentor.”
“Well thank you I’m glad I could help.”
“I guess then I should be heading home… thank you for everything.” She gave him an awkward smile.
“You’re welcome, I’ll see you in the studio soon.” He winked.
“Let’s hope.” She grinned and then made her way to the door.
“Don’t be a stranger Ellie.” He called after her.
“ Wouldn't dream of it.” She called back and walked out the door wanting nothing more than to run back in. She’d have to avoid him until she got her crush under control.

“What’s up sis? You look down.” Gemma asked as she plopped down by her sister on the couch. “Today is you’re birthday you should be ecstatic.”
“It’s nothing…” Noelle said distantly.
“It’s the mentor right?” They both knew she didn't have to respond Gemma already knew the answer.
“You and your stupid mind reading…” Noelle groaned.
“Sorry kid comes with the territory.” She grinned baring her fangs.
“Ew don’t do that.”

“Sorry. Spill it what’s the problem?”
“I just can’t shake this stupid crush.”
“Crushes aren't simple and they are unpredictable you can’t just shake them off.”
“Thanks old wise one…”
“Hey I’m only a little older then you Missy.”
“Still older.”
“Well then forget it you don’t get my advice.” Gemma started to stand.
“Wait.” Noelle grabbed her arm and pulled her down. “Help.”

“Well seeing as I got a crush on a younger guy I don’t know how much help I’ll actually be but I’ll try.” She smiled. “You’re going to be an adult soon, like in a few hours, it might change the way you feel.”
“What if it doesn't? Would it be so wrong if I dated him?”
“It’d be wrong if you had dated him when you were still a teenager but it’s kind of a grey area once your both adults... I’m not gonna lie I would be a little skeved out by the whole thing I mean he was your mentor.”
“Only for a few weeks! It’s not like we've known each other since I was a kid.”
“That’s true.”
“And look at Tam he married a woman the same age as mom.”
“Don’t get me started on Tam…” Gemma shuttered a former classmate being married to her aunt was a level of creepy she couldn't handle.

“What would you do?” Noelle asked her helplessly.
“ Doesn't matter what I would do Elle… what do you want to do?” With that last question Gemma stood up and headed for the door. “Just be careful whatever you do OK?”
“ OK, thanks Gem.”
“No problem.”

Today was also the day Gemma had to follow through on her father’s request. She was to get some information from one of his lackey’s that was recently arrested for a high profile crime; unfortunately this meant she had to get arrested herself. Up until this point her and Adrianna had avoided any talk of her new job she knew her mother suspected but now there would be proof. “Well this is certainly surprising.” Officer Singh told her as he drove them to the station. “What will your mother think her daughter caught doing petty theft?”
“Just drive OK?”

After a few hours in jail, a long confusing conversation with the lackey, and thankfully no confrontations with her mother Gemma was released and she headed straight to her dads to give him the information. “He’s in a meeting.” Winter said as she attempted to enter her father’s office.
“ OK well he told me to get this information to him as fast as possible.”
“You can tell me I’ll pass it on.” Winter crossed her arms.
“ OK, I don’t know if you’ll understand it…” Gemma sighed, she really wanted to talk to Fall and find out just what she had got busted for. “He said ‘Magnolia is at the hen house and the rock is sitting pretty.’ The whole thing is meaningless.” Winter smiled. Clearly it made enough sense to her, which only irritated Gemma more she was the one who would have to deal with the fallout of her arrest she lived with a cop after all. It didn't seem to bother Winter or her father at all that she was going to deal with the tongue lashing of a lifetime when she got home and it was all for a bunch of crap she didn't even understand.
“Thanks Gemma I’ll let him know, was there anything else?”
“Yeah tell him next time he better tell me exactly what I’m collecting or ask someone else to do the job.” She was letting her anger get the best of her but she didn't care she had a right to know what she was putting herself on the line for.
“Be careful kitten you’re playing with the lions now I wouldn't go threatening the king.”

“Well if it isn't my little jail bird.” Adrianna said as Gemma walked into the house.
“It was all a huge misunderstanding.” Gemma started calmly.
“I’m sure it was… just like your dear aunt always says right?”
“Winter had nothing to do with it.”

“Nothing to do with it!” Adrianna shrieked. “That whole family has done nothing but turn my precious little girl into a bratty petty thief! I don’t know why I ever allowed you around them look what their influence has done to you.”
“Mom calm down, it’s not that bad I just got a slap on the wrist and I promise it won’t happen again.”
“I better not, I won’t bail you out again.” She said seeming to calm down slightly. “You are a grown woman now so I can’t tell you what to do but I can strongly encourage you to steer clear of that family.”
“Mom-“ Adrianna held up a hand and she closed her mouth.
“We have your sisters birthday party to get to and I will not ruin that so we’ll leave it at it won’t happen again.”
“ OK.”

************
I thought it was funny that Tam married Spring, who hasn't been in the story yet, so I thought I should include it. Noelle's birthday is next chapter and she takes over pretty much right away. The ball is rolling on Gemma finding out the truth about her father although there are plenty more bumps ahead and Adrianna and Gemma will probably butt heads a lot. I've been remodeling the house a little bit every time I play and with Noelle's generation it will probably change quite a bit so I apologize in advance for anything that changes from picture to picture.

Adrianna: Fifteen

Noelle sat nervously in the limo glancing awkwardly in Dominic’s direction every once in a while. She’d only agreed to go with him as friends but she could since that he wanted more and she really didn't  A boyfriend would only distract from her musical goals and she couldn't have that. Gemma caught her eye and gave her a knowing look. It was so unfair how she could read her mind and know why Noelle really didn't want to date Dominic or any other guy in school. It was a silly crush anyway, nothing would ever come of it after all he was older and looked at her as a kid but Noelle couldn't help it she had it bad for Jude.

Gemma didn't have the same problem as her sister, high school boys suited her just fine and she happily brought home Jeremy after spending the entirety of prom with him, they quickly became an item.

Most days Noelle would spend a few hours at Jude’s, they would do have a nice little jam session to help her learn those few notes she still had trouble with. She certainly was improving and he kept assuring her she would have no problems when the time came for graduation.

“You really are a fast learner Noelle.” He told her. “I actually have some good news.”
“Really what is it?” She asked excitedly.
“Well in I got you an audition with the local music manager for the day after you graduate.” He smiled.
“No freaking way!!!” She shrieked almost bouncing with glee.
“Yes way… only problem is now we’ll have to work a lot harder. Since it’s coming pretty quick.”

“That is so not a problem I will do whatever it takes.” She said stepping close to him.
“Right good.” He replied in a strangely high voice.

“An audition huh?” Gemma asked her as they sat at the table the next morning before school.
“Yes, exciting right?” Noelle asked her beaming.
“Sure, I’m just concerned about all those extra hours you’ll be putting in… is that really a good idea?” She raised an eyebrow.
“Gemma he’s just my mentor.” Noelle sighed. Gemma didn't buy it for a second. She had went with Noelle a couple of days ago to watch their Jam session and had seen a lot more than a mentors admiration in that guys eyes. He just better watch himself or she’d have his head on a stick.

Pushing her worries for her little sister aside Gemma climbed on the bus for the last time. She couldn't believe in just hours she would finally be an adult and on her way to making her father proud. She looked at the bus driver remembering her first ride home with Zach and how he’d been so concerned. Of course that driver was long gone and the new guy wasn't half as suspicious, according to Zach that is. Gemma, being a vampire, of course knew the guy was harmless.

After school was her drama awards ceremony where she won a few awards for her brilliant acting skills, she didn't really pay attention to all the details she was too focused on getting home for her party.

“Soon enough it’ll be your birthday and we can start seeing each other again.” Gemma assured Jeremy just before she went out to blow her candles.
“Yes and then we can get married and start a family.” He told her with a smile.
“Erm right.” She said awkwardly. She had zero intention of ever getting married and children? Well she wasn't sure that was in the cards either, but who knew she had a long time before children would be a real concern.

“I know that the renovations have been stressful on you and your sister, I hope that your new room is suitable.” Adrianna said stopping her daughter before she made her way to the cake.
“It’s great mom, looks just like the old one and I loved the old one.” She smiled.
“We can always add next to Noelle’s when it’s finished and give you more space.”
“I really don’t need it mom this is perfect.”

“I can’t believe you’re going to be all grown up.” Adrianna said tearing up.
“Come on mom don’t do that…” Gemma sighed hugging her. “I’ll always be your little girl.”
“Just not so little.” Adrianna smiled. “Now let’s get to that cake.”

Gemma looked down at the candles thinking of what to wish for, really she couldn't think of much she wanted that she couldn't get herself so she wished for luck in achieving her goals. As she blew out her candles she waited for the familiar sparkles to surround her only this time it was a red light.

After the red glow started to dissipate Gemma felt an odd sensation, all of her senses were even more heightened then before and she felt unbelievably powerful. She wondered if this was what her brother had meant when he said she’d understand things when she was older, of course she still didn't understand his decision. Why would anyone want to waste power like this doing something silly when they could dominate the town?

“I still don’t get it Jack, I feel amazing like I could concur the world why would you walk away from that?” She asked him after skipping cake, food just didn't look appealing anymore.
“Trust me sis it’ll hit you one day.” He smiled.
“Why do you have to be so cryptic?”
“I’m the older brother it’s what I do.” He shrugged.

“I couldn't help but notice your brother decided not to show.” Adrianna said smirking at Winter.
“He’s working late but he sends his best.” She shrugged.
“I’m sure its work.”
“Would you really want him here?”
“No, but then again I don’t want him or the rest of you around my daughter period.” Her tone was polite but Winter could see just how pissed Adrianna was to have her around.
“Yes well we are her family and he’s the one who is still going to be here when she’s still young and beautiful and you’re rotting in the ground.”
“That’s true, but let’s not forget who will be going first… if I’m not mistaken your birthday isn't too far away.” Adrianna smirked. “Do forgive me I have to visit with some other guests.” She walked away leaving the other woman glaring behind her.

Gemma’s first order of business after the party was to fix her computer that one of the guests had so kindly broken. She wasn't the handiest of girls but she did manage to get the dang thing working after a few hours of fiddling. “Finally!” She shouted when it started up no problem. “If you ever break again I’m taking you out back with an ax.”

The next morning Gemma got a phone call just before they headed out for graduation. “Hello? Oh hey dad!” She said happy her father had finally gotten a hold of her. “Oh no it’s fine I understand… tomorrow? I suppose that’ll be fine but I thought… no I… uh huh… OK I will. Talk to you soon. Bye.” She hung up uncertain of how she felt about what he just told her. She quickly shook it off  putting it out of her mind and headed out the door with the rest of her family.

Graduation was a long boring ceremony but Gemma managed to graduate with honors and was voted most likely to burn down her own house, she had laughed at that one. The odds she would burn down her own house were slim… someone else’s however… well anything could happen.

*********
So Gemma is a young adult now. She isn't the heir however but I rolled Single parent with help so she'll be sticking around. Noelle is only 5 days out from her birthday so Generation 2 will be officially taking over soon. I'm very excited to get to their story, its a lot more exciting then Adrianna's was lol probably because I actually have a plan this time instead of just going with whatever works.
